We are Reading!

Kindergarten has a new word wall! Morah Dawn made it all Velcro so we can pull down the words to practice reading, recreating them with our magnetic letters and writing them. We love adding new words to it! Kindergarten learned that if we take the word "cat" and take away the c from the beginning of the word and add an r, we get the word "rat"! We practice this a lot at the board or with our magnetic letter. We also have the opportunity to read books with the words we have learned! We love to read!

Subtraction with Cheerios!

Kindergarten is learning to Subtract! We used Cheerios in order to help us understand the concept of taking away. Morah Dawn first gave us 5 cheerios and would ask us to take certain amount away. That means we got to eat them! We would then have to say how many were left. Eventually we did so well that we were given 10 cheerios to start. What a fun way to learn! To help us review what we learned we also had the chance to play review games.

Plants

Kindergarten is learning about Plants! We read from our big book about the parts of a plant and the life cycle of a plant. Our friends even made our very own Life Cycle of a Plant book! We also learned that plants need sunlight, food, air and water in order to live. We planted our own plants in the classroom and are waiting very patiently for our seeds to sprout! We can't wait. Come see our bulletin board that we recently updated about plants!

Magic C!

The Kindergarten class got a visit from our special Magic C Rabbit. He came to show us that when we make a capital C, we can also make a Capital O and G by drawing a C to begin with then continuing to form the letter we want. This is the same with lowercase c! We practiced making our new letters by writing on chalk boards and by making them out of play doh and tracing with our finger. We had so much fun with our new friend.

Chanukkah fun!

Today, as a special surprise for Chanukkah, we had a chance to color with special crayons. Dreidel crayons! Every friend made a colorful Channuka card for their parents. The card was sent home in the homework folder.

CHANUKKAH is here!

We worked very hard on our Chanukkah menorahs. Every friend personally sanded, mod podged, painted and glued together their very own masterpiece. It is a completely user friendly and safe menorah. Enjoy using it! Have a very Happy Chanukkah!

Congratulations!!!

Mazal Tov! Kindergarten has finished learning ALL the letters of the Alef Beis! We all took part in an unbelievable "Alef Beis party". We made beautiful Alef-Beis crowns and got to write out our names with Alef- Beis cookies! Check it out!!

We have now moved onto learning the "Nekudos". Nekudos are what give each letter in the Alef-Beis a sound. We are steadily moving towards our goal of being able to read Hebrew.
