Rhyming Game Review

Kindergarten has been learning all about rhyming. In honor of Daniel R.'s birthday, his family gave the class a gift. It is a rhyming game called, "Match O Sound". Each student gets a card. Each card has one big picture of a certain item. Under the big picture are 4 empty boxes. Morah hold up various items and if the item matches the picture on your card, you place the item in one of the empty boxes until the card is full. We have been using it as a review game. The students really enjoy playing it. Thank you Daniel!

Investigating Sound

As part of our science unit, we are learning about investigating sound. The class made a guitar out of a box and used 3 different rubber bands as the strings. One rubber band was thick, another medium thickness and the last was thin. We learned that various things such as thickness and tightness of a string will cause it to make a different sound. We then compared our guitar to other string instruments and realized each string will give a different sound based on what we learned in our experiment. As we plucked the strings on our guitar we kept a chart to record which string made what kind of sound. We learned the thick string made a low sound, the medium made a medium sound and the thin string made a high sound. What a hands on way to learn!

OUR PURIM CELEBRATION

Kindergarten really enjoyed a pre-Purim party with their pre-K friends. We heard the Purim story, had a grand masquerade and traded shaloch manos - food packages. We had lots of fun!

Beginning Middle End

Kindergarten finished learning how to write both Capital and Lowercase letters. We have now been working on enhancing our writing skills. We read, "The Little Rabbit Goes to School". When we finished, we talked about how each story needs a beginning, middle and end. Morah Dawn placed 3 pieces of paper on the board. On the first paper, the students told Morah what happened in the beginning of the story and we illustrated it. On the second was illustrated what happened in the middle and on the last piece of paper was illustrated what happened in the end of the story. We are working our way up to writing our very own stories!

Daniel R.'s Birthday!

It was our friend Daniel R.'s Birthday! He got to go with Morah Dawn to the store to help buy the cake mix he wanted. We later celebrated by baking a birthday cake, singing happy birthday, giving tzedakah and wishing him birthday wishes! The cake was delicious! Daniel was gracious to give the class a present for his birthday. It was a rhyming game and we have already used it and love it! Thank You!

More Purim preps!

We had a great time learning and reviewing the story of Purim with the help of very fun puppet friends. Once we knew the story and miracles well, we moved on to creating our very own Megilla! We are almost done preparing the whole thing. Painting every page is loads of fun. We will be sending the Megillas home at the end of the week for everyone to be able to share it with their families over the Purim holiday. ENJOY!

SHOW AND TELL FROM ISRAEL

As a preparation for our special show and tell items from or about Israel, we read a book about our friend named Yehuda. Yehuda lives in Israel and also does show and tell there. He had a special story to tell us, and we learned a great lesson from it. Yehuda also sent special Alef Beis crayons as a gift to every friend in Kindergarten. What a fun Friday!
