100th Day of School!

Kindergarten celebrated the 100th Day of School! We have been keeping track by counting on our hands. Kindergarten also learned to count by fives using the hands.

To celebrate the 100th Day of School we began our day filling out the sentence, I would like 100_____. The students filled in the sentence in their writing journals and drew a picture to go along with it.

Morah Dawn read the books, "Fancy Nancy 100th Day of School" and "Miss Bindergarten's Celebrates the 100th Day of Kindergarten" !

Lastly we got the opportunity to take a bag of chocolate chips and count out 100 of them. We then made strawberry cupcakes with 100 chips in it! What a yummy treat!

100th Day Show & Tell

To celebrate the 100th Day of School, Kindergarten had to use their imagination and bring in 100 of something for Show & Tell. Look how creative our friends are!

Groundhog Day

Kindergarten learned all about Groundhog Day. Groundhog Day falls out on February 2nd! If the ground hog emerges from his hole and sees his shadow, there will be 6 more weeks of winter. According to the ground hog, Spring is on the way!

Kindergarten read all about the ground hog in their Weekly Readers. We also made a special Groundhog Day project!

Nina made her very own project for Groundhog Day at home and brought it in to share with the class. Thank you Nina!

Temperature

Kindergarten learned all about temperature. We know that a thermometer is an instrument you use to measure temperature. Kindergarten spoke about various ways to discover if something is hot or cold. Other then using a thermometer we can use our senses! We took a trip to the school kitchen where Morah Dawn ran hot water. We saw all of the steam coming from the water. That means it is extremely hot! We also opened the freezer and touched ice and discovered the temperature in there was very cold. When we got back to out classroom, we had the opportunity to use our thermometer and place it in a cold cup of water as well as a hot one. We watched the red line in the thermometer raise if the temperature was hot and drop when it was cold. We had so much fun learning all about temperature!

An enhanced Shabbos party table!

This past week, our Shabbos party table was extra beautiful! Thank you, Nina and Alisa! For show n' tell they both brought in something to help decorate the table. Nina brought her very own, self made candle stick! Alisa brought in two colorful, glittery and bright table decorations that her grandmother made for her! How nice!

Sara's mother came for a visit!

We had a great time when Sara's mother came to visit our classroom to read us a book called "Ladybug Girl". This book is extra special because it is the one Sara bought at the book fair! Since then, Daniel O's mother has come as well and we hope to be able to put up pictures of that very soon.

OUR TRIP TO THE LIBRARY!

As I'm sure you are all aware, February is literacy month in Mazel Day School! One of the many things kindergarten has done in honor of literacy month is paying a visit to the largest library in borough of Brooklyn - the central library. We had a chance to meet a librarian who read some fun books to us! She also told us many interesting facts about the library including how many thousands of children's books they have. If I am not mistaken, she said 90,000! After that, we had time to go look at the many interesting and beautiful books. When we were done, we all got in line to check out our books, using our very own library card! The librarian behind the counter gave us a piece of paper telling us when our books have to be returned. It was a great adventurous day at the library! We had loads of fun!
