Show & Tell

For Show & Tell the children were asked to bring in something reviewing Math topics such as shapes or time or something reviewing our Social Studies unit of Our World. The children brought in various objects such as clocks, blocks, cans, paper made shapes, Slinky's, shapes games, balls and an atlas. They really enjoyed sharing what they brought in and talking about it. All of the children have the opportunity ask the person presenting about the object they are showing. This encourages conversation amongst each other.

Shapes Scavenger Hunt

Kindergarten learned all about various shapes. We learned names of shapes as well as how many sides each shapes has. We also learned about solid shapes such as cubes, cylinders, rectangular prisms, pyramids, cones and spheres. After learning and reviewing the shapes, we went into the playroom and went on a shapes scavenger hunt! The children had to find various toys or items that was a solid shape we learned about. They came up with blocks, balls, tissue boxes, legos and so much more!

Juice Bar

In honor of health month, Mazel Day School ran a juice bar for all the children to visit and order delicious, healthy drinks! Kindergarten ordered a variety of juices and had a a great time. We learned how each drink contained fruits and vegetables, which is part of the daily servings we are supposed to have.

Our World Bulletin Board

In keeping with the theme of Our World, Kindergarten has created a bulletin board outside our classroom. Each child was asked to bring in a picture of a place their family visited around the world. The center of the bulletin board has a map of the 7 continents. Each picture the children brought in, was labeled & hung up around the map. We then connected a string from each photo to the place on the continent that was visited. The children love seeing the pictures and are so excited to be learning so much about our world!

Morah Irina Visits!

Sara's mommy, Morah Irina came to visit our class for Health Month! She made a poster illustrating how one should have 5 servings a day of fruits and vegetables. Morah Irina went through each color in her picture, having the children say a fruit and vegetable that color. For example, Color Green: kiwi & green pepper. We could eat a fruit or vegetable from each color to eat the 5 a day we need. The children got a copy of the picture to take home and color.

Morah Irina then made a delicious and nutritious fruit salad with the children. Look how yummy it looks! Thank you Morah Irina!

Health Month - Alisa's Mommy!

Alisa's mother came to visit our class for health month! Mrs. Gleyzer is an acupuncturist. She came to talk about her profession and demonstrate some of her equipment. She showed a poster of the human body and explained to the children how acupuncture works through points in our body. The children were even taught where their pressure point is in their hands. Mrs. Gleyzer also showed us a book about acupuncture and explained that it was written by her teacher.
The children had the opportunity to ask any questions they had and before leaving, Alisa's mother left a healthy snack of berries for the children! Thank you!

Our World Continued...

Kindergarten had two very special guests come to talk to us this week. As you know we have been learning about our world. Morah Chana and Morah Chaya are teachers in the school and they are from England. They both spoke about the country as well as gave the children a chance to hear what an English accent sounds like.

Morah Chaya came and spoke about England. She explained that they do not have a President like we do but rather a Prime Minister. She also explained there is a Royal Family and brought pictures of the Queen. She also showed the students how their flag looks compared to ours as well as their money, buses and phone booths. Morah Chaya also brought in pictures of important places there such as The Big Ben and Buckingham Palace. The children were so excited to learn so much!
